Nepali citizens (Nepal is an eligible country) who are not Australian permanent residents. Must demonstrate a commitment to contributing to Nepal's development after returning. Minimum academic requirements vary by institution.

About the Scholarship

Australia Awards Scholarships are funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Nepal is among the eligible Asian countries, and approximately 1,151 scholarships were awarded globally in 2025.

The program aims to develop leadership and human capital in partner countries, with recipients expected to return home after completing their degree.

What's Covered

Full tuition fees, return economy airfare, a living stipend, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), pre-departure briefing costs, and if required, pre-course English language training.

Participating Universities

50+ Australian institutions are eligible including the University of Melbourne, UNSW, ANU, University of Sydney, Monash University, and more. You apply to the scholarship program first, then select your institution.
