About University of Tsukuba
The University of Tsukuba is a national research university in Tsukuba Science City, a planned research hub about 50 kilometers northeast of Tokyo. It has one of the largest international student populations among Japanese national universities — approximately 10% of all students are international — and runs a wide range of English-taught master's and PhD programs including computer science, engineering, business, and medical sciences.
Tsukuba has lower admission criteria than the top-tier Todai/Kyoto target, and is often the most accessible Japanese national university for Nepali applicants with solid but not elite profiles. Combined with the standardized national tuition, an active international student community, and proximity to Tokyo's tech job market via the Tsukuba Express train line, it is one of the strongest overall value picks for Nepali students heading to Japan.
