About Munster Technological University (MTU)

Munster Technological University (MTU) was established in 2021 through the merger of Cork Institute of Technology and IT Tralee, creating the largest technological university in Ireland by enrollment outside Dublin. MTU serves Munster — Ireland's most economically dynamic province — with campuses in Cork, Tralee, and Fermoy. Programs span engineering, computing, business, science, marine technology, arts, and nursing, with a consistent emphasis on industry-relevant applied education.

Cork's pharmaceutical and medical device cluster (home to major operations from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, GE Healthcare, Apple, and Qualcomm) creates direct graduate recruitment pathways for MTU's science and engineering graduates. Non-EU tuition rates are among the most affordable in Ireland, and the Cork campus in particular is well-served by student accommodation and a thriving city with a strong international community. Graduates access the TLGP 24-month post-study work permission.

For Nepali students

  • Cork city campus — Ireland's second city with a major pharmaceutical and tech cluster; Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Apple all recruit from Cork institutions
  • Affordable non-EU tuition from ~€9,500/year — some of the lowest fees in Ireland for engineering and computing programs
  • MTU's engineering and bioscience programs align directly with Cork's dominant pharma manufacturing sector — very high graduate employment rates
  • 24-month TLGP post-study work permission for master's graduates — access to Ireland's high-demand life sciences job market
  • Cork city offers lower living costs than Dublin — well-served by student accommodation and an established South Asian community
