About Atlantic Technological University (ATU)

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) was established in 2022 through the merger of Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, IT Sligo, and Letterkenny Institute of Technology — making it one of Ireland's newest and largest higher education institutions, with campuses stretching across Connacht and north-west Ulster. ATU serves the western Atlantic seaboard of Ireland, offering programs in engineering, computing, business, science, health science, and creative arts across multiple campuses in Galway, Sligo, Letterkenny, Mayo, and Donegal.

As a technological university (TU), ATU emphasizes applied research and strong industry partnership — preparing graduates directly for regional employment in pharma, agri-tech, marine science, fintech, and digital media. Non-EU tuition rates are among the most affordable in Ireland, making ATU a genuinely accessible entry point into Irish higher education. International students benefit from the TLGP (Third Level Graduate Programme) permission, allowing 24 months of unrestricted work after master's completion.

For Nepali students

  • Among the most affordable non-EU tuition in Ireland — computing and engineering programs from ~€10,000/year
  • Galway city campus is in Ireland's most vibrant west-coast city — a growing tech and medtech hub (Medtronic, Boston Scientific)
  • Smaller campus environment means more direct faculty mentorship and community feel vs large Dublin universities
  • 24-month TLGP post-study work permission for master's — access to Irish and European job market after graduation
  • Practical industry-aligned programs (computing, engineering, business) — ATU targets direct employment outcomes over pure research
